Why Do We Mix Pure Gold with Other Metals?

22K Gold – Best for Wedding and Occasion Wear

22 carat gold is a little mix of impurity into pure 24 carat gold, which makes it slightly harder than pure gold, stronger, and suitable to use in jewellery like bangles and wedding wear jewellery, but not for everyday use jewellery.

21K Gold – Best for Daily Wear Jewellery

21K gold is the hardest among all these three forms of gold. The mixing of three parts into 21 parts of pure gold makes it best to make jewellery from 21 carat gold. The jewellery which is daily wear includes rings, earrings, tops, bracelets, etc.

Price Difference Between 24K, 22K, and 21K Gold

Also, the mixing of impurity into pure gold makes it cheaper. 24K gold has the highest price, while 22K gold has a slightly lower price than 24K gold. Of course, 21K gold is the cheapest among all three gold categories. 

So, mixing impurity into pure gold not only makes it suitable for use in jewellery but also makes it cheap and affordable.
